DEEGAN ON LA—I heard the election results news when I was in a graveyard. An eerily ironic location because I was attending the funeral of a very passionate community activist that quarreled often and vigorously with and about the just-deceased Mid City West Neighborhood Council board. Most of the incumbents had been voted out in an election a few days before.

DEEGAN ON LA—City Hall has tried to remedy it. So has Federal Judge David O. Carter. Before them, for decades, less high-profile attempts have been made to solve “it”. “It”, the homeless reality, continues to grow out of control. Our unsheltered neighbors, the kind-hearted epithet used by some to describe the masses of homeless sheltering on the city’s sidewalks, deserve far better service and treatment than they have been getting.

DEEGAN ON LA—Optimism may become electable, as we struggle to get through tensions at the global, national and local levels of stressful living. DEEGAN ON LA—-The City Charter allows it. The Pacific Palisades community could benefit from it—local rule acquired by secession from the City of Los Angeles and its politicos. As the Palisades begins its recovery what better time to rise from the ashes like a phoenix and brand itself as an independent city in Los Angeles County. Making it manageable and responsive to its community, with a City Hall “hands off”.
