MINNEAPOLIS — Early in a roller coaster of a 6-3 loss to the Twins, before the Mets’ comeback bids fell short and even before Minnesota had gone ahead for good, one of the game’s several turns came via a weird moment from an unlikely suspect. Francisco Lindor, high-end defender, committed a key fielding error that resulted in a pair of unearned runs. It was the second time on the young season that his miscue at shortstop all but cost the Mets a game.

MINNEAPOLIS — Griffin Canning is sick and will not make his scheduled start Wednesday against the Twins, manager Carlos Mendoza announced, the first in-season interruption to a Mets rotation that entered play Tuesday sporting a majors-leading 2.50 ERA. Skipping Canning triggers a potentially complicated pitching and roster-related wrinkle for the Mets, extending even to centerfielder Jose Siri, whom they did not officially place on the injured list despite his fractured left tibia.

I studied psychology and specialized in neuropsychology. I am very interested in the brain and how your brain chemistry affects the way you think and behave. Most people think they’re quite rational. They think that their eyes are cameras, their memories like a tape recorder and their decisions are based on some sort of balance sheet that drives very rational thinking and actions. The reality couldn’t be further from the truth.

MINNEAPOLIS — That second-base spark the Mets have been looking for might finally be here. In a 5-1 win over the Twins on Monday, Luisangel Acuna served as a catalyst from the bottom of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a little bit of everything: a double, a walk, a steal, a bunt single and two runs scored.

JP Sears threw 101 pitches to the Mets. He got 12 outs. Mets 3, Athletics 1, top 5

Full comments from the always interesting Luis Severino on his offseason desire to return to the Mets, taking less money to do so, the “not the best” Sacramento arrangement — and how many good hitters the Mets have: https://t.co/bnwmiu86d3

Luis Severino said he told the Mets he would’ve re-signed for two years and $40 million. But, per Severino, the Mets told his agent that they’d give him the Frankie Montas contract (two years and $34 million). He signed with the A’s for three years and $67 million.
