Bideford Boxing Club’s Andy Mitchell topped the bill in Port Talbot against local Heavyweight Davey Joseph. Joseph dictated the first round with big blows landing home. In the second, Mitchell began to land left straight counters in a tighter round. With Joseph blowing in the last, Mitchell upped the work rate, backing his opponent up and scoring with flurries. Unfortunately, it was too late, as Joseph took a split decision on the scorecards but Mitchell was rewarded by winning ‘fight of the night’.

Buckland Athletic have parted company with manager Dan Hart and Todd Hanrahan after three years in charge at Homers Heath. Brixham RFC came within minutes of reaching a trip to the rugby mecca of Twickenham and a place in the Papa Johns National Cup Final. On a day of immense drama at Astley Park, the Fishermen fought back from a roaring start by their visitors from Oundle RFC in Peterborough, and could almost taste victory, only to be beaten by the final play of the game. Despite the late heartbreak, Brixham Head Coach Adam Thomas described the pride felt by everybody at the club and in the local community.
