PORTLAND, OR – In late January, Oregon Humane Society officials partnered with The Dalles Police Department in response to a case of suspected animal neglect. Several French Mastiff dogs were seized and taken to the OHS Behavior & Rescue Center. Investigators said the dogs had been living in unsanitary conditions and lacked any real care, including access to food and water. Many of the dogs were fearful, shutdown, and suffering from injury and illness.

SALEM, OR – The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission says that in 2023, there were eight deaths from fireworks in the U.S. Just over 40 percent of those injuries were from burns, with fingers and hands being the most common areas. In 2024, firework injuries during the three weeks leading up to July 4th accounted for a little more than 80 percent of the fireworks injuries.

PORTLAND, OR – The Portland Police Bureau reported approximately 20 traffic stops during a street takeovers on Saturday, June 21st. According to PPB, those stops resulted in four vehicles being towed and the seizure of two vehicles alleged to have been used in street racing and other illegal activities. Under Oregon’s new reckless driving law, any vehicle used in street racing-like activity is subject to criminal forfeiture.
