BEAVERTON, OR – Baseball history walked into Hoody’s Collectibles recently. Portland’s Morning News Producer Jon Eric Smith recently uncovered a collection of vintage baseball cards passed down to him from his great-grandfather. Among the nearly 80 cards are several original Ty Cobb cards dating as far back as 1909. “This is baseball history!” said Tait Hoodenpyle, owner of Hoody’s Collectibles.

OLYMPIA, WA – Senate Bill 5041 would provide striking workers in Washington with up to four weeks of unemployment benefits. Republican Representative Jeremie Dufault insists the legislation will give workers an incentive to go on strike. “If you pay people to strike, they will strike more often. Washington state will see a dramatic increase in the number of strikes,” said the Yakima native.

PORTLAND, OR – The Royal Rosarian Foundation has announced the Royal Rosarian Milk Carton Boat Race, which is part of the finale for the 2025 Portland Rose Festival, will be held at Portland’s Westmoreland Park Casting Pond on June 22nd starting at 11:45 a.m. That means it’s time for kids and their family to begin collecting milk cartons and jugs to be used in building their milk carton boat.

Portland, OR – The Oregon Department of Transportation is reminding you and other drivers that state law requires studded tires to removed from your car by the end of the month. The law allows studded tires to be used in Oregon from November 1st through March 31st. Beginning April 1st, law enforcement officers can issue citations with a $165 fine to drivers with studded tires on their vehicles. Spokeswoman Julie Denney said studded tires cause a lot of damage to Oregon roads.

Portland, OR – The Oregon Humane Society is hosting a unique adoption event on Saturday, March 29th with the goal of helping a group of shelter dogs who have been waiting a long time to find a forever home. They’re calling this event the “Pawfect Match.” It base on human speed dating. The plan is get ten people to spend ten minutes each with ten dogs available for adoption.
