After their triumphant 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the Round of 16 of the US Open Cup, a draw determined when, where, and who the Philadelphia Union would be facing in the quarterfinals. Philly was drawn as a host of the quarterfinal round and will take on “rivals” New York Red Bulls at Subaru Park on either Tuesday, July 8th, or Wednesday, July 9th!The Union is one of four “East” teams left in the tournament.

They are among the best teams in a stacked Eastern Conference. Columbus, Cincinnati, and Miami round out the top four, with Philadelphia. The Union faces Columbus in a clash determining who sits atop the East this week.

Bradley Carnell impressed with his pressing style, and the players were ready to shock the league. The expectations surrounding the club were lower than they have been in the past few years, and a new face was leading the squad. This made it easier for Philadelphia to ascribe to their new style and turn heads.
