    The Glenwood Community School District board last week passed an operating budget for next year that includes another reduction in taxes. What’s more, the district is planning to start a new method of teaching this fall, pending state approval. The five-member body on April 14 unanimously approved a budget totaling $35,875,018 for fiscal year 2026, with a property tax rate that dropped to $13.25 per $1,000 in taxable valuation from $14.50 per $1,000 in taxable valution this year.

    Road work for this year and beyond was a key issue at the April 15 Mills County Board of Supervisors meeting. The three-member board unanimously approved the five-year road plan, an annual guide on proposed projects down the road. “We try to do a big overlay project one year and a bridge replacement every other year,” County Engineer Jacob Ferro said.
