DiscussionLike previous studies, the present research demonstrated that neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy has favorable safety and efficacy in the treatment of ESCC. The pCR rates varied from 20% to 39.2% in different studies.11 12 14 The present study represents the largest sample size reported to date for neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy for ESCC. The pCR rate was ~20%. Predicting pCR in ESCC is crucial as it relates to the strategy of operation or organ preservation treatment.

: The impact of genomic factors on the response of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT), as well as how nCRT influences the genome and transcriptome of ESCC, remain largely unknown. : 137 samples from 57 ESCC patients undergoing nCRT were collected and subjected to whole-exome sequencing and RNA-seq analysis.
