HORACE, N.D. (KVRR) — A group of fifteen homeowners in Horace is suing the city over special assessments. In a statement by their attorney, Brandon Erickson with O’Keeffe O’Brien Lyson, they claim the city is violating North Dakota law with extraordinarily high special assessments that could be cause for foreclosure on their homes. They also claim a history of improper communication and that the city neglected to notify them of the special assessment process.

Fargo Park District and Fargo Neighborhood Coalition are hosting a community input meeting. They want to talk about their future plans and hear ideas and priorities for the future of Fargo’s parks and green spaces. The district provides over 1,000 programs and hosts more than 70 special events each year.
Holiday Sells A $1 Million Winning Powerball Ticket in Minnetonka

ROSEVILLE, Minn. (KVRR) — A Powerball ticket sold at a Holiday Stationstore in Minnetonka, Minnesota is worth $1 million. The winning Powerball numbers drawn on April 16 were 20 – 24 – 42 – 43 – 49 and the Powerball was 19. The ticket matched the first five winning numbers drawn last night meaning they were one number away from the jackpot. It now stands at $131 million for Saturday’s drawing.
Endangered Missing Person Alerts in Moorhead: One Missing, One Located

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Minnesota BCA has canceled one endangered missing person alert for Moorhead and has issued a new one. First they say 16-year-old Dade Badar was last seen on Monday. Badar is 5 foot 10, 160 pounds with brown hair and eyes. He was last known to be wearing a black jacket, gray shirt, and black jeans. If you spot him, contact Moorhead Police at 701-451-7660. There is good news about 17-year-old Chad Stewart of Moorhead. Minnesota BCA says Stewart has been located and is safe.
Man Sentenced to Federal Prison For Loaf 'N Jug Robbery in Fargo Last March

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The Fargo man accused of holding a knife to the neck of a worker at Loaf ‘N Jug during a robbery is sentenced. 34-year-old Lucas Tavares was given 8 years in federal prison. He was indicted by a federal grand jury for Hobbs Act Robbery and pleaded guilty to the charge last January. The robbery happened at the North University Drive location in March 2024. Police detectives quickly identified Tavares as the robber and took him into custody on the same day.

Prairiewood is tentatively scheduled to open all holes on Thursday followed by Edgewood, Rose Creek, Osgood and El Zagal on Friday. Fargo City Commission Delays Action On Making Mayor Full-Time, Adding 2 Commissioners

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo City Commissioners are delaying any action on making the mayor full-time or adding two commissioners, until next month. City staff presented findings of research into what steps would need to be taken and the impact on the budget. Commissioners can vote to make the mayor’s position full-time. Right now the mayor’s position is only part-time and the pay is low compared with cities of comparable size like Sioux Falls.
One driver dead after going wrong way on I-94 in Barnes County

BARNES COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) — A 44-yearo-old Mandan man is dead after driving the wrong way down I-94 and crashing head-on into another vehicle. North Dakota Highway Patrol says the other driver, a 74-year-old man from Bismarck, has serious nonlife-threatening injuries. He was taken to a hospital in Valley City before being moved to Sanford in Fargo. The crash happened just before 1 p.m. near Eckelson, between Valley City and Jamestown. The crash remains under investigation.
Former Fargo Businessman Gets Nearly 16 Years in Federal Prison For Cocaine Operation

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A former Fargo businessman is sentenced in U.S. District Court for a large-scale cocaine distribution operation. 52-year-old Barrett Prody was given nearly 16 years in federal prison for continuing criminal enterprise, money laundering and obstruction of justice. Court documents show the former owner of JT Cigarro and O’Leary’s Pub laundered hundreds of thousands of dollars in drug proceeds through his business accounts.
