    POLK CO., Minn. (KVRR) — A rural Erskine, Minnesota man is dead after crashing his motorcycle on a gravel road about 10 miles east of Crookston. Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 1 p.m. to County Road 38, about 1 1/2 miles north of U.S. Highway 2. A passerby spotted the crash scene. Deputies say 39-year-old Travis Shimpa was found laying in the ditch. He was pronounced dead by first responders. The crash is under investigation.

    GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — Occupants of a house at 1322 Allwood Court in Grand Forks are displaced after a fire. Grand Forks Fire crews responded in the noon hour and arrived to find flames on the first floor and smoke throughout the house. The fire was quickly put out with moderate damage isolated to the kitchen. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. Family is helping those displaced overnight. There were no injuries.

    TRAILL CO., N.D. (KVRR) —  A 19-year-old motorcyclist from Gardner, North Dakota has serious injuries after a pursuit and crash late Saturday night. North Dakota Highway Patrol says it happened around 9:30 p.m. about five miles south of Hillsboro on Traill County Highway 81. They were notified of a reckless driver on I-29 near the Mayville exit and the driver failed to stop. He left the interstate and failed to negotiate a curve in the highway and rolled his motorcycle.

    FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Police in Fargo arrest a woman suspected of shoplifting a $700 coffee machine on Tuesday, May 20 at a business in the 4200 block of 13th Avenue South. A loss prevention employee observed the woman loading a cart with high-value merchandise and attempting to leave the store without paying. When the employee tried to stop her, the woman forcefully rammed the employee with the full shopping cart multiple times.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (KVRR) — U.S. Department of Agriculture has released $1 billion in disaster relief for livestock producers impacted by wildfire or drought in 2023 or 2024. The Emergency Livestock Relief Program funding comes as part of the $21 billion in weather-related assistance include in the year-end legislation passed by Congress in December. It’s the first of two assistance programs addressing losses impacting livestock producers.
