The demand is reflected in real estate advertising with half the homes currently for sale touting some sort of energy efficient feature, according to a new report from the property website Domain.

    A dingo has been stabbed after it bit a child on K'gari, formerly known as Fraser Island, off the Queensland coast on Friday afternoon. The Queensland Ambulance Service said the boy was bitten on his underarm just before noon and rushed off the island for medical treatment. It's believed the child's injuries aren't serious. A bystander allegedly stabbed the dingo, seriously injuring it. It's the latest in string of dingo incidents on the island in recent months.

    The damage bill from a truck crash on a major Queensland highway is expected to run into the tens of millions of dollars, and some warn it could happen again unless upgrades are fast-tracked. A truck carrying parts of a wind turbine struck the Mount Crosby Bridge on the Warrego Highway near Ipswich about 1:40am on Friday, after reportedly failing to follow escort vehicles onto an off-ramp.

    A man allegedly involved in a home invasion west of Brisbane where the owner was "fired on" as he attempted to flee has been denied bail. Police were called to a rural address at Purga, in the Ipswich region, at about 4:35pm on Monday. A lockdown of the area was ordered as specialist police engaged with a group for more than five hours.

    Two brothers charged over the death of a Springfield Lakes woman have had their case mentioned in court for the first time. Khalilullah and Masihullah Habibi were arrested on Friday night and later charged with the murder of a 23-year-old woman, who one of the men was married to. Emergency services were called to a home near Ipswich, south-west of Brisbane, at about 8pm on Friday to reports a woman had collapsed. Police and paramedics found her unresponsive and were unable to revive her.
