Ohio's Secretary of State has ordered several county boards of elections to revert to using paper pollbooks instead of electronic ones, citing a security issue with a single device. The decision could lead to longer lines during the May 6 primary election. The issue originated in Perry County, east of Columbus, where the elections board director reported a problem with the machines but did not provide further details, referring inquiries to the Secretary of State's office.

Some county boards of election officials are warning there could be delays on the May 6 primary election after Ohio’s Secretary of State ordered some electronic pollbooks be replaced with paper pollbooks. That comes as Frank LaRose ordered an investigation into one device in Perry County that he said “violates Ohio’s election standards.”Similar electronic pollbooks are in use in other counties and those boards of election have been ordered to use paper pollbooks.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — “The most effective thing you can do is talk to your legislator.”That was the advice from Gov. Mike DeWine to a group of more than 300 library advocates who descended upon the Ohio Statehouse as the House considered a budget that would have slashed library funding and changed the funding formula. In the end, the House budget passed Tuesday gives libraries more funding, although there is a change to the funding formula.
