PUBLISHED: April 4, 2025 at 9:59 AM PDTLos Angeles County announced it has reached a $4 billion tentative settlement covering more than 6,800 sexual abuse claims, some dating as far back as the 1950s, according to a statement from the county released Friday morning. The settlement would be the most expensive in county history and will impact budgets for years if not decades, to come, the statement said.

PUBLISHED: March 14, 2025 at 5:02 PM PDTNext week’s potential resentencing hearing in the case of Erik and Lyle Menendez has been postponed, and a hearing on the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office’s motion to withdraw a resentencing petition is instead set for April 11 in the Van Nuys Courthouse, City News Service has learned. Depending on what the court decides on April 11, a resentencing hearing — originally scheduled for next Thursday and Friday — may be set for April 17 and 18.

At first, I resisted the idea of using a cane to get around. “What do I need a cane for?” I told my wife. “Canes are for old people.”“Rich, you are older,” my wife said gently, being careful not to say that I was OLD. As is the case with most things, my wife was right. I got a cane last year, and I have found it to be indispensable. The cane Is helping me walk around, getting in and out of the car and is keeping me from losing balance and falling down.
