Sean Clerkin says he always felt Michael Murphy might return to the Donegal football fold. The Buncrana club man and former Donegal minor and U-21 manager remembers the teenage Murphy, who went on to captain the county to the All-Ireland SFC in 2012 and has since made a comeback after a two-year sabbatical to line out for the seniors once more in 2025.

Glenea United took time to visit the graveside of the late John O’Brien after lifting the Temple Domestic Appliances Division One trophy on Sunday. Darren McGeever and Shaun Curran scored the goals in a 2-1 win over Castlefin Celtic at McGettigan Park to get the party started. However, there was a moment of poignancy afterwards. Late of Wee Brae, Falcarragh, John passed away back in January of 2021 at Donegal Hospice, aged just 56.

Dungloe produced a power-packed second-half performance to come from behind to overcome Naomh Padraig Uisce Chaoin on Saturday evening in Ture in Division 2. Calvin Bradley scored three of the goals as Red Hughs enjoyed a bumper win over Moville in Division 3 of the All-County Football League. Tom McMenamin and Colm Meleaugh were the other goalscorers in a runaway win at the Crossroads on Saturday evening. Bradley, McMenamin, Cahir Browne, Liam Carlin, James Doherty and Gerard Melaugh were also among the pointscorers for the locals, who dominated this encounter from very early.

Downings chalked up their first win of Division 1 this season with a five-point victory over neighbours St Michael’s in Sunday’s northwest clash at Pairc Na Dunaibh. Johnny McGroddy top-scored for the winners with nine points while Patrick McElwee and Conor Boyce netted the goals for the Maxi Curran-managed side. McElwee, Oisin Boyce, Padraig McGinty, Callum Cullen, Dylan McGlone, Danny McBride were also among the scores for the winners on a day they had eight different scorers.
