Global Power Components plans to expand to the former Milwaukee Journal Sentinel production facility. That operation would bring three shifts with around 1,000 jobs to the West Milwaukee site. Global Power has outgrown its facility on Milwaukee's south side. It makes equipment for the power generation industry. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's former printing plant would be converted into a facility for a local manufacturer under a new proposal − bringing up to 1,000 jobs to that site.

An update on Interstate 794's future, including possibly removing part of that downtown Milwaukee freeway, will be the subject of an open house. The May 29 meeting will provide information on the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's I-794 Lake Interchange Study. It will run from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Milwaukee Marriott Downtown, 625 N. Milwaukee St.WisDOT will unveil narrowed options for I-794.

The former This is It! has been nominated for city historic status. The longtime gay bar closed in March. Historic status would prevent any changes to the building's exterior without city approval. The two-story building wraps around the corner of East Wells and North Jefferson streets and includes other former bar and restaurant spaces. The downtown Milwaukee building which once housed Wisconsin's oldest continually operating gay bar has been nominated for historic status.

A seven-story, 156-room Moxy Hotel is planned for 430 W. State St. Its main entrance would be on North Phillips Avenue near Fiserv Forum. A hotel proposed in downtown Milwaukee's Deer District is seeking a key city approval − which would overcome opposition from a union organizing hotel workers.
