Regular diners of local sandwich shop Pan in downtown Fayetteville will now have an additional day to get their favorite paninis, sandwiches, salads, bagels and more. The Pan team announced on their social media pages on Monday, Jan. 29 that they will now be open their regular hours of 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday through Saturday. Joining the restaurant scene in 2022, Pan, located at 105 Hay St, has become a staple lunch spot for members of the downtown community.

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Crown Event Center Committee gave their approval Tuesday, Jan. 23, of a revised building program and conceptual design for the new Crown Event Center, which will be constructed in Downtown Fayetteville and will replace the existing Crown Theatre and Arena.

State Superintendent Catherine Truitt and NC Sen. Jim Burgin presented Harnett County Schools with a $40,000 grant for Career and Technical Education programs. In an effort to continue to support the construction trades in Career and Technical Education programs and classrooms across NC, the General Assembly allotted $200,000 for the State Superintendent to award to Public School Units (PSUs) via the CTE Grants for Homebuilding Programs.

Dr. Jeff Mercer has been named the next dean of Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. Mercer becomes the third dean of the College, since its founding in 1985, following Dr. Michael Adams who was named provost and vice president for academic affairs in January 2023. Mercer has served as interim dean since June 2023. He joined Campbell in 2022 as the associate dean of administration after serving as an associate dean and dean of the College of Pharmacy at Harding University.
