EASTON — Talbot County resident Cheryl Krebeck spent a good chunk of her 72nd year in Montana’s Glacier National Park. From April to October, she lived on the west side of the park in the northern Rockies. This curious woman loves to travel and is not letting a little arthritis get in the way. “Traveling has been my passion, but when I turned 70, I decided I wanted this decade to be my most exciting,” she said. “I want to do more than just visit for a week or two,” she said.

EASTON — More than half of students in Talbot County Public Schools receive free or reduced cost meals at school every week, according to the Maryland Department of Education. Free and reduced meals allow them to eat well at school. “It is basically healthy for them. They get a fruit, a vegetable, a protein and they get a milk,” said Michelle Garniga, assistant coordinator at the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center for the after school program. She has six children in TCPS.

Many people like the crispy results deep frying can provide, including Easton Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief JR Dobson. “I love deep fried turkey. It is like eating fried chicken. It is always moist in the middle. It tastes pretty good, especially if you season it right,” Dobson said.

EASTON — Copper timpani, sliding trombones, heraldic trumpets and a focused baton are just some of the instruments making up the 45-member Mid-Shore Community Band. Band Leader Matt Fullerton keeps all the moving pieces in order. The band brought its music to Thompson Park on Nov. 9 during the Waterfowl Festival, and band members commanded a range from flutes to thundering drums. But the most significant diversity the band exhibits is not in its musical abilities, but in the ages of its members.
