    Eloise Fetzer, a fifth grader at Daniel Island School, pulled off a tie for second the Girls 10-11 age group in the nationally televised Drive, Chip and Putt national finals held April 6 at Augusta National Golf Club. Representing the East region, Fetzer, 10, scored 19 points and tied with Penelope Philip of the Great Lakes region. Balla Simoes of the Southeast region won the Girls 10-11 age group with a score of 24. This was Fetzer's second trip to the national finals.

    The South Carolina Outdoor Press Association (SCOPE) is partnering with the Hampton Wildlife Fund and South Carolina Wildlife magazine to sponsor the South Carolina Youth Outdoor Writing Competition. The competition is open to high school students in grades 9-12. The target audience will be entries from South Carolina, but entries from any state are eligible for the competition. Entries will be 300-500 words in length, and topics include any outdoor subject that is presented in a positive manner.

    Former Boston College golfer Christian Cavaliere entered Sunday's final round of the Azalea Invitational golf tournament with a two-shot advantage and never let anyone get any closer as he polished off the victory with a bogey-free final-round 67 for a 12-under total of 272. Cavaliere, 27, finished three shots ahead of Preston Hage, a high school junior from Raleigh who also closed with a 67.
