EU and UK reach trade and fishing deal in reset agreement

The EU and UK have reached an agreement to reset relations, which the British Prime Minister has claimed will add nearly £9 billion (€10.6bn) to the UK economy by 2040. As part of the agreement, there will be a new sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) deal on plant and animal products, which will not be time-limited. According to the UK Government, "some routine checks on animal and plant products will be removed completely", which will help reduce trade barriers between Northern Ireland and Britain.

A new agreement on plant and animal checks will have "massive" benefits for the British fishing sector, according to a Downing Street source. They said a fishing deal would extend the current "status quo", removing uncertainty, and in return, the fishing sector would have increased access to EU markets. Reports have suggested that the UK has agreed to extend fishing rights by another 12 years, which has prompted criticism domestically.

Man charged over arson at properties linked to UK PM

Police in London have charged a man, 21, with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life after fires at two properties and a car connected to the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Roman Lavrynovych, a Ukrainian national from Sydenham in southeast London, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday Morning. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow.
