    MURRIETA, CA — Expect to see increased drone and/or helicopter activity in Murrieta during the first half of May. Southern California Edison announced it is conducting inspections across the city using the aerial tools. While the noise might not be welcome to all, the utility said eyes in the sky are a necessary part of its wildfire prevention and mitigation program. Drones and/or helicopters are being used to inspect equipment from difficult angles and for 360-degree views.

    TEMECULA, CA — Motorists who use the northbound Interstate 15 on-ramp from Temecula Parkway will need to use an alternate route this month. The Riverside County Transportation Commission announced Tuesday that it will require an extended full closure of the northbound I-15 Temecula Parkway on-ramp starting at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 11, and lasting through 5 a.m. Monday, May 19.

    RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — County boards of supervisors across California are pushing back on looming budget cuts at the federal level that could impact healthcare coverage for millions of Golden State residents. The Riverside County Board of Supervisors is among the voices. On Tuesday, the board unanimously passed a resolution calling on the federal government to protect Medicaid funding. In California, Medicaid is administered through the state's Medi-Cal program.

In addition, all reclaimed pets will receive a free microchip and a visible, engraved ID tag at all shelter locations. In 2024, RCDAS took in more than 25,000 stray dogs and cats, but only 12% of those pets were reunited with their families.
