Southern California Edison announced it is conducting inspections across the city using the aerial tools. While the noise might not be welcome to all, the utility said eyes in the sky are a necessary part of its wildfire prevention and mitigation program. Drones and/or helicopters are being used to inspect equipment from difficult angles and for 360-degree views.

TEMECULA, CA — Motorists who use the northbound Interstate 15 on-ramp from Temecula Parkway will need to use an alternate route this month. The Riverside County Transportation Commission announced Tuesday that it will require an extended full closure of the northbound I-15 Temecula Parkway on-ramp starting at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 11, and lasting through 5 a.m. Monday, May 19.

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors is among the voices. On Tuesday, the board unanimously passed a resolution calling on the federal government to protect Medicaid funding. County Animal Services Waives Fees To Reclaim Lost Pets

The following is a May 6, 2025, news release from the County of Riverside:RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Riverside County Department of Animal Services (RCDAS) will begin waiving reclaim fees for lost dogs and cats. In addition, all reclaimed pets will receive a free microchip and a visible, engraved ID tag at all shelter locations. In 2024, RCDAS took in more than 25,000 stray dogs and cats, but only 12% of those pets were reunited with their families.
Body Of Fallen Marine Returns Home To Riverside County

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The body of a Marine from Riverside were returned home this week following his death last month in an on-duty crash in New Mexico. The remains of 22-year-old Lance Cpl. Albert A. Aguilera arrived at the Ontario Airport Monday afternoon, and a 40-mile procession followed to a mortuary in Menifee. From freeway overpasses along the route, first responders saluted the hearse carrying the young Marine's flag-draped casket.

RIVERSIDE, CA — Under , a parent or person with lawful custody can safely surrender a baby confidentially, and without fear of prosecution, within 72 hours of birth. The baby must be surrendered at a public or private hospital or designated fire station, and no questions will be asked, according to the law. That did not happen for a newborn boy who was found abandoned on Sunday, May 4, near a trash bin in Riverside. It's unclear whether the baby was delivered near the bin or born elsewhere.

WILDOMAR, CA — A retirement separation agreement has been reached with former Wildomar City Manager Dan York, the city announced Tuesday. "The Wildomar City Council and former City Manager Dan York have agreed to York’s retirement commencing on May 9, 2025," according to the brief city statement. "York will receive a severance payment in the amount of $44,026.66, which is equivalent to 2 months’ of his pay. "York has served as City Manager since 2/1/2022," the statement continued.
