    BAE Systems has signed a collaboration agreement with Norwegian shipyard Umoe Mandal to find new ways to work together on the Type 26 frigate, and on BAE Systems’ Littoral Strike Craft (LSC) as it moves from concept to commercial reality. The agreement, which was signed at Mandal in southern Norway, would see the two companies explore ways to expand on existing collaborations on the two classes of modular vessels.

But such towed arrays have traditionally been large, bulky pieces of equipment, requiring larger crewed vessels to use them. Now though, technological miniaturisation is producing towed arrays that are small enough for light crewed vessels and even for the new generation of uncrewed vessels to use.

    The US Navy (USN) has cancelled its Hypersonic Air-Launched Offensive (HALO) missile development programme. The HALO programme was developed to create a hypersonic anti-ship missile with a long-distance precision-strike capability. The missile was initially expected to be ready for deployment by 2029, and to be at full operational capability two years later.
