(UPDATE, 8:15 p.m.) - A U.S. Marshal spokesperson confirmed to ABC-7 that an operation was being conducted by the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force. They do confirm injuries were sustained by that team. The U.S. Marshal spokesperson did tell ABC-7 that one person is in custody. The scene is now considered contained, with no danger to the public. The investigation is ongoing, and is being handled by the FBI and Texas Rangers.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- An open house will be held for the public to provide feedback on the El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization's (EPMPO) 2052 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). EPMPO says the public's feedback from this open house will help them as they create recommendations for traveling in El Paso through projects, programs, and policies. The open house will take place on Wednesday, January 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at William H. Burges High School's Black Box Theater.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 spoke to Dr. John C. Lommler, principal geotechnical engineer and adjunct professor at New Mexico State University, to learn more about the construction of the cross-border tunnel discovered on January 8. Dr. Lommler told ABC-7 that a lot of hard physical work and low technology appear to have gone into the construction of this tunnel. Homeland Security Investigations says the tunnel is approximately 6 ft. wide and 4 ft.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Police are currently at the scene of a shooting in Northeast El Paso. Officials say that dispatchers first received reports of the shooting at 12:22 PM. It happened on the 6900 block of Copper Town. Emergency crews rushed one person to the hospital. Officials have not yet released information on the severity of those injuries. Investigators remain at the scene. ABC-7 has a crew going to the shooting now.

UPDATE: Homeland Security Investigations El Paso (HSI) has revealed that they are now the ones leading the investigation to find those responsible for the construction of the tunnel. HSI says this tunnel was likely constructed within the past year, and no arrests have been made at this time. The tunnel found under the U.S.-Mexico border was discovered on January 8 and extends into the Boone Street storm drain in El Paso, according to HSI. HSI also revealed that the tunnel is approximately 4 ft.
