    COLUMBIA, S.C. — Voters in several parts of the Midlands of South Carolina cast ballots Tuesday in special elections to fill vacant seats. The three races in the Midlands that were contested were a special election for South Carolina House District 50, a special election for Irmo Town Council, and two seats on the Lynchburg Town Council.  The rest of the Midlands had no races, since the majority of municipal elections this year will be held in November.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland County deputies have charged a teenager with shooting someone at a gas station on Garners Ferry Road last week. Deputies announced Monday they'd arrested 17-year-old Timothy Hartey in connecting with the May 30 shooting at the BP gas station at 8000 Garners Ferry Road. According to investigators, around 6 p.m. that day they got a call that a man had been shot multiple times in the parking lot of the store. That victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Columbia City Council is set to take a vote Tuesday on whether to overturn its current ordinance prohibiting conversion therapy for minors in city limits. The council has a special-called meeting set for 3 p.m. at city council chambers on Main Street. Last week, the council deferred a decision on the ordinance.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. — Monticello Road near Columbia is blocked following a serious car crash that's left multiple people injured. Columbia Fire officials tell News19 they responded to the collision, located in the 9200 block of Monticello Road, around 1 p.m. Monday. They said one patient had to be airlifted from the scene and two others were transported to the hospital. They add that the road is closed in both directions and will be for some time.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina Board of Trustees has given approval to the next round of the renovations and upgrades to Williams-Brice Stadium, a large scale plan to improve the home field of the Gamecock football team. The trustees voted in favor of phase two of improvements late Thursday afternoon. Last October, they gave approval to phase one of the plan.
