A New Orleans businessman who has been charged in a wide-ranging probe into staged wrecks has entered a plea on his latest charge of conspiracy to commit murder. Sean Alfortish is facing one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, three counts of obstruction of justice, and four counts of witness tampering. He was also indicted alongside Leon Parker for conspiracy to kill federal witness Cornelius Garrison.

Three men who escaped from jail over a week ago were apprehended in Texas and Louisiana, with their altered appearances raising questions about their time on the run.The suspects, Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald, were picked up Monday afternoon about an hour north of Houston. Their booking photos show them with short hair, differing from their appearance when they broke out of jail.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff and other staff members have been subpoenaed by the district attorney's office as part of an investigation into an inmate escape, according to WDSU sources. Those same sources told WDSU Investigates that the subpoenas are requesting all copies of Sheriff Susan Hutson's text messages, emails, and other communications from midnight Friday until Sunday night.

Jeff Landry has ordered the state's Supreme Court to review judges across Louisiana, focusing on the number of judge trials and acquittals in criminal courts. This comes after a WDSU investigation exposed the issues in New Orleans. Orleans Parish Judge Nandi Campbell, who has been on the bench for almost five years, is in the governor's sights.
