ShareCOLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M center TJ Shanahan will be out for the Aggies’ Southwest Classic matchup with Arkansas this weekend. Head coach Mike Elko confirmed the change Wednesday on the Southeastern Conference coaches teleconference. Shanahan injured his leg early in the Aggies’ win over Bowling Green on Saturday and needed a cart to take him from the sidelines to the Aggie locker room. He returned to the sidelines for the second half, but did not return to the game.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – On first blush, the shot off the boot of Denver’s Michaela McGowan a few yards outside the box seemed speculative, at best. And yet, it was that mid-first half shot that did what the Texas A&M soccer team couldn’t do with consistency throughout Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to the Pioneers — find the back of the net with pinpoint accuracy. The Aggies produced 19 shots, many of which came from inside the penalty box, but produced six shots on goal and two goals.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M running back Rueben Owens will most likely be out for the rest of the season with a foot injury he suffered during the Aggies’ scrimmage last week, head coach Mike Elko confirmed Saturday. “He’s going to be out for an extended period of time, most likely the season,” he said. “There’s an outside chance that if the season extends beyond the regular season, we’ll have a chance to get him back for something.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M executive associate athletic director for internal operations Joe Fields is leaving his post at A&M to join former A&M deputy athletics director Justin Moore at Tulsa. Moore and A&M athletics director Trev Alberts confirmed the move with KBTX Tuesday. Fields will serve as deputy athletic director in Tulsa. In July, Tulsa hired Moore as the new athletic director of the Golden Hurricane. “It’s a loss for the department,” lamented Alberts.

Texas A&M sophomore running back Rueben Owens injured his “lower leg” during the Aggies’ fall camp scrimmage Saturday, according to a statement released by head coach Mike Elko. The extent of the injury will be addressed at Elko’s next media availability Saturday, he said in the statement. ESPN first reported the injury Sunday. As a freshman, Owens saw action in all 13 games and collected 385 yards on 101 carries. He called three touchdowns.
