SAN MARCOS, Texas — Sakke Siltala got his first set of plastic golf clubs when he was just a toddler and it was the beginning of his love for the sport“When I got to 3 or 4, there was not enough room in our backyard for me to hit,” says Siltala. “So my dad took me to the driving range.”Siltala grew up in Finland and became one of the top amateur golfers in that country. But to test his game and give himself more opportunities, he wanted to come play college golf in the United States.

AUSTIN, Texas — Last year, the final week of the high school baseball regular season saw Westlake playing against Buda Johnson. A fly ball to shallow center had both the center fielder and second baseman, Holland Page, converging on it. As Page reached up to make the catch, the center fielder came diving in at the same time and collided with Page. Both players went down injured. Page looked down to see his leg was broken. “I tried to get up and looked and my leg was sideways,” Page recalls.

AUSTIN, Texas — Connor Comeau sampled a lot of different sports growing up, but eventually gravitated to one. “Soccer was really hard, baseball came easy, hockey came easy, lacrosse came easy,” said Comeau. “Football was a little weird at first but I got used to it, but then I ended dropping all those sports to play baseball.”That turned out to be a pretty good choice. Comeau has developed into one of the top baseball prospects in the state.
