Bolivar Peninsula — Where's the crowd? There was plenty of sun, sand, and surf on the Bolivar Peninsula for the start of Jeep Weekend, but few visitorsJeep Weekend minus the crowd is rare sight on the Bolivar Peninsula. Sheriff Jimmy Fullen has put some tough guidelines in place to reduce the violence. So far, it's working, with no major issues reported, but it's definitely impacting turnout. More than 400 law enforcement officers from a number of agencies are stationed across the Bolivar Peninsula.

The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted a teenager in connection with the shooting death of a man and attempt to steal his motorized bicycle. The grand jury indicted Myles Horne, 17, for Murder and Aggravated Robbery. If convicted of the 1st degree felonies, he could face up to life in prison. Magistrate Marc DeRouen set total bond at $1.5 million for Horne following his arrest in the April 8 shooting death of 63-year-old Terry Thompson.
