LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — There’s a special beauty in baseball, in every sense. The sight of a towering home run, the smell of leather, the sound of bat hitting ball. Or, as Dallas Cathey, puts it: “The pops of the glove, the sounds of crowd, the organs, the announcers," he explained. Cathey, a sophomore at the Arkansas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, has only ever known the game through those sounds. “It’s just always been what I love,” he smiled.

Every up and down and twist and turn of the Arkansas men's basketball season led them to Providence Rhode Island, to take on Kansas in the first round of the men's NCAA Tournament. The Hogs got a 10-seed, the Jayhawks the 7, and on Thursday night they went to battle. The underdog Hogs came hot out the gate, forcing a frustrated timeout from Bill Self just a couple of minutes in.

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Earlier in the day on Monday, the Arkansas State women won the Sun Belt Championship, punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. After the women's game, it was the men's turn to try and make a Sun Belt sweep for the Red Wolves. Arkansas State took on Troy in the conference title game, after splitting a pair of regular-season matchups with the Trojans. The Red Wolf offense was cold in the early going, allowing Troy to build a nine-point lead halfway through the first half.
