Nadeau named to AHL All-Rookie team, recalled to NHL

RALEIGH, N.C. - After an incredible rookie season at the AHL level with the Chicago Wolves, former Maine Black Bear Bradly Nadeau has been recalled to the NHL level to skate with the Carolina Hurricanes in their final contests of the regular season. Nadeau was also named to the AHL All-Rookie team on Wednesday after a 30-goal, 50-point campaign with Chicago. The 19-year old who led Maine in goals and points a year ago also led the Wolves with 30 goals and tied for the team lead with 56 points.

ORONO - Maine baseball won their sixth straight game on Wednesday afternoon, taking down the UMaine-Farmington Beavers (DIII) 17-1 in seven innings. The Black Bears jumped out to a 4-0 lead after loading the bases the first inning. In the second, the Beavers got one back on a Tyler Rosa RBI single, but it was all the offense they would muster. Maine added six more runs in the third, headlined by a Payton Whitehead two-run homer to left.

BANGOR - Husson baseball continued streaking on Tuesday, taking down SUNY Cobleskill in both games of a home double-header, 3-2 and 11-1. The Eagles and Tigers have played in the last two NAC Championship games. Husson and Cobleskill were tied 1-1 in the second inning when Matt Wallingford stranded a man at third by striking out David Flora swinging. In the third, Colin Marshall started a rally with a single to right to lead off the inning, and Akira Warren was hit by a pitch in the next at bat.
Maine baseball sweeps America East weekly awards

ORONO - After picking up a road sweep of the University of Albany, Maine baseball swept the America East weekly awards- winning Player of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, and Rookie of the Week. The sweep was Maine's first of the season. Brody Rasmussen, a junior outfielder, is the player of the week after he hit .545 with a .727 SLG% to go along with seven runs, six hits, and four RBI. After a spectacular start on Sunday, Gianni Gambardella is the pitcher of the week.

BANGOR - Husson baseball swept their home double-header with Vermont State University Lyndon on Monday afternoon, beating the Hornets 9-3 in game one and 13-0 in game two. Husson led by just one in the bottom of the second of game one before Matt Holmes lifted a sacrifice fly to deep center with the bases loaded to give them a 4-2 cushion. Holmes added another RBI, scoring Jackson Curtis with a single in the fourth.

BREWER - On Saturday, April 12, Maine men's hockey head coach Ben Barr and players Frank Djurasevic and Josh Nadeau will meet with fans at the US Cellular store on Wilson Street in Brewer. The Black Bears will be at the store location at 403 Wilson St. in Brewer from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday for a meet and greet with fans as part of a 'US Days with UMaine Men's Ice Hockey' event put on by the cellular company.

BANGOR - Husson softball swept St. Joe's in their home opening double-header on Friday afternoon. Graduate student Sky Johnson tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout in the first of the twin billing, helping the Eagles to a 2-0 win over the Monks. Husson added the first run in the second inning when Lexi Volinsky drove in Tori Exel. Both teams went scoreless until the fifth, when Lydia Rice led off with a triple to left field and Camryn King drove her in with a sac fly.
Boija named Second-Team All American

ORONO - For the first time since 2020, Maine men's hockey is represented on the American Hockey Coaches Association All-American teams. Sophomore goaltender Albin Boija was named Second-Team All American after a stellar season. Boija was named Second-Team All Hockey East earlier in the year. The Sweden native posted 23 wins (23-8-6) with a .928 save percentage and a 1.82 goals against average.

ALBANY, N.Y. - Maine baseball grabbed their sixth win in eight games with a 3-2 victory over Albany on Friday afternoon, taking the first in a three-game series with the Great Danes. Maine jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first after Drew Reynolds drove home Brody Rasmussen on a fly out. Albany evened the score in the bottom of the frame, but Maine regained the lead in the third. Rasmussen smashed a one out triple to right field and Dean O'Neill singled him home in the next at-bat.
