    ORONO - Binghamton baseball defeated Maine 9-4 on Friday afternoon, handing the Black Bears their fourth straight loss. Maine opened a three-game series with the Bearcats at Mahaney Diamond with a 9-4 loss, despite tying the game at 4-4 in the seventh inning. Binghamton opened scoring with a run in the first, but Maine answered in the second. Damon Gaither's bloop single to center scored Drew Reynolds, who tripled two batters earlier.

    BANGOR - Husson baseball and softball have won and advanced to day two of their conference championship tournaments. The Eagles' baseball squad, hosting the NAC Championship, took down SUNY Cobleskill 8-2 in their first game of the tournament, advancing to Friday's semifinal round to play Thomas College. The winner will get an automatic berth into Saturday's championship game. First pitch is at 11 a.m.On the softball diamond, Husson took care of business on the road.

    ORONO - Maine softball opens up postseason play on Wednesday against third-seeded Albany in the America East Tournament. The Black Bears head into the conference tournament, hosted by top-ranked Binghamton, as the sixth seed. They play the Great Danes at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Maine enters the postseason 3-17 in conference play, but those three wins each came in the last five games.

    BREWER - Despite falling behind early, Brewer baseball battled back for a 6-4 win over Bangor at home on Monday afternoon. The Rams struck first, scoring three in the first, two on a double from Scott Sockabasin, but Brewer settled in from there. In the third, Jake Perry scored the Witches' first run on a first-and-third double steal. Both starting pitchers were effective in the game.
