The Laughing Tap has been a Milwaukee comedy mainstay since it opened at 706B S. 5th Street in January 2020. In its five-year existence, the Walker’s Point comedy club—which is owned and operated by Milwaukee Comedy producers Matt Kemple, Kaitlin McCarthy, and Greg Bach—has hosted hundreds of standup acts, including appearances by noted humorists like Bobcat Goldthwait, Dana Gould, Michael Ian Black, Laurie Kilmartin, Sean Patton, and many more.

Beer gardens are starting to open for the season! Music series lineups are starting to be announced! And as of today, lineups for music series that will be taking place at beer gardens are starting to be announced as well. Following three successful years at The Vine from 2022 through 2024, Jazz At The Vine will return to the eponymous beer garden in Humboldt Park for more late spring and summer shows. This year, Humboldt Park Friends-produced series will return for a total of eight concerts.

After Dirtnap Records launched in the Pacific Northwest at the turn of the century and got its footing by putting dozens upon dozens of excellent garage rock and punk-tinged releases from acts all over the place (including Milwaukee’s own Phylums and The Sugar Stems), founder/owner Ken Cheppaikode made the decision to move back to his former hometown of Madison from Portland in 2017.

Since opening in April 2019, the Bay View bar has served up more Hamm’s and Campari than any other establishment in the state, offered up accessible riffs on elevated cocktails, partnered with food trucks on its property, weathered a worldwide pandemic, changed the way businesses interact with their customers (and Yelp critics) online, and just completed an extensive renovation project.
