Ryan Gusto made the Houston Astros' Opening Day roster by the skin of his teeth. After a good spring training, the 26-year-old rookie right-hander earned the final spot in the Astros' bullpen in late March. That seemed like a good way to get him some experience in low-leverage situations and let him build up his confidence at the Major League level. Fast forward a month, and he's suddenly one of Houston's most important pitchers.

What's going on with the Toronto Blue Jays' offense? As great as their pitching's been this year, their lineup has been alarmingly punchless. In their three-game sweep by the Houston Astros at Daikin Park earlier this week, they managed just two runs and nine hits in the three games combined. It's hard to score when you can't hit the ball over the wall, and that's a problem that's plagued the Blue Jays all season. Toronto has only 13 home runs in 25 games this year, which ranks 29th in baseball.

April isn't even over yet, but Philadelphia Phillies fans are already hitting the panic button. It was a painful trip to Citi Field for the Phillies, who lost two of the three games by only one run.

Many MLB fan bases are tough to play for, especially on the East Coast. Fortunately, the Washington Nationals aren't one of them. Compared to notoriously impatient fans of teams like the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies, Nationals fans are far more optimistic, positive and welcoming. They actually encourage and support their players, even when they're not playing well. That makes a difference, at least to Washington closer Kyle Finnegan.

It took them nearly a whole month, but the Houston Astros finally have their first sweep of the 2025 season. After their usual slow start, the Astros are back to looking like the team that's won four straight AL West titles. They went 5-1 on their six-game homestand, taking two of three from the San Diego Padres and sweeping the Toronto Blue Jays. Houston dominated the Blue Jays during its three-game sweep at Daikin Park this week, winning every game by multiple runs and outscoring Toronto 15-2.
