The leadership of the Liberal Party is up for grabs after Peter Dutton lost his seat in Dickson. Mr Dutton had held the marginal Queensland seat since 2001, but at her third attempt, Labor candidate Ali France knocked off the Opposition Leader. At the latest count, Mr Dutton suffered a 10.9 per cent swing against him, giving his Labor opponent a lead of 9.2 per cent. The massive, and shock, win for the Labor Party will add to its majority after Sky News called the election for the ALP.

A Teal MP, who campaigned on integrity, has been savaged by a veteran TV host after the politician awkwardly dodged an interview live on air. The standoff between Kooyong MP Monique Ryan and Sky News host Laura Jayes was captured live on air at an early voting centre in Malvern with Dr Ryan’s media minder eventually intervening to shut down questioning.
