SHELBYVILLE — Tim Aberle was drawn to teaching from a young age. He realized by the end of high school that his love of learning, especially history and literature, made teaching the right career for him. “I'm 10 years into the profession,” said Aberle, who teaches at Shelbyville High School. “And every year, I feel like I've grown in leaps and bounds from the previous year.”A native of Fairbury, Aberle met his wife, Stephanie, at Eastern Illinois University. She is a speech therapist.

DECATUR - A damaged wind turbine at Radford's Run Wind Farm along U.S. 51 is slated for demolition and replacement. Robert Young, developer with RWE Clean Energy, the wind farm company, and Bree Nation, asset management, spoke at the Macon County Board's April 10 meeting to let the board know what was happening with the turbine. The turbine was damaged in a storm in the fall and repair isn't possible due to the structure's instability.

DECATUR — A sermon series at First Christian Church has inspired a podcast on mental health. The Rev. Brian Talty handed out surveys, which the congregation filled out without putting their names on them. Then he distributed those surveys on the collection plates, asking everyone to take one and read it, said Heather Kaloupek, who is on staff as director of the care ministry and is a licensed clinical social worker.
