The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Pipes, Drums and Dancers: National Capital Region returned from a 12-day trip to the Netherlands on Friday, May 9, 2025. This trip was to join in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation by Canadian troops on May 4, 1945. Canadians were the largest part of the liberation forces, and Canadian Lieutenant-General Charles Foulkes was present for the official Nazi surrender at the Hotel de Wereld in Wageningen.

A suspect has been arrested and could face charges following an alleged hit and run involving two cyclists in Rigaud. Sûreté du Québec Sergeant Elisabeth Mattice confirmed that 54-year-old Brian Poirier was arrested on Sunday, May 25 in connection an alleged hit-and-run that occurred on Saturday May 24, in which two cyclists were injured in a collision with a vehicle on Chemin du Haut-de-la-Chute in Rigaud. Mattice said the cyclists were injured but could not comment further on their condition.

With the theme of “His faithfulness to all generations,” Knox Presbyterian Church in Vankleek Hill celebrated its 200th anniversary on the weekend of Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25. According to a history of the church written by Minister Emeritus, The Reverend Robert Martin, the land where the first Presbyterian church building in Vankleek Hill was constructed in 1825 was donated by Simeon Vankleeck Jr., son of the town’s founder, Simeon Vankleeck.
