The interim head of a Jersey animal charity says he is working with the Government to improve "outdated" animal cruelty laws. Tom Noel from the JSPCA explains that he is joining forces with the States Vet to improve current legislation from 2004 which states animals can only be seized if their basic needs are not met, including food and water. He says other forms of neglect are much harder to act upon and animals need appropriate protection.

Watch as crews rescue stranded cows from a beach in Jersey. Emergency services rescued stranded cows from Grouville Bay on Thursday morning, after they became stranded by incoming tide. Crews were called at around 6:40am on Thursday 30 January 2025, to reports of 14 cows on the loose. Farmer Tom Perchard received a call after it was found to be his cattle. "There was multiple heifers in and out of the water across the entirety of Gorey Bay.

A mother in Jersey who lost her teenage daughter to suicide is calling for the government to offer more youth provision to young people on the island. Elizabeth Emily Borman, 15, ended her own life on 5 May 2022 while suffering with anxiety and depression. Now, her mother - Natalia Borman - wants more community spaces to help young people who might feel isolated in Jersey. Natalia told ITV News: "[Elizabeth] was very outgoing, very funny [...] she loved animals a lot and she wanted to travel.

Reclaim The Sea and Refugees Welcome North Somerset have been helping women at Weston Marine Lake and The Wave in Bristol. Many of the participants associated water with fear and loss after traumatic experiences on migrant boats or no access to the sea in their home countries.

A woman from Bude spent more than eight hours waiting in the back of an ambulance to be seen at Royal Cornwall Hospital due to delays. Kate, 49, has multiple sclerosis (MS) and had a five-minute seizure while watching TV with her partner at home on Monday 16 September. Her partner called the ambulance, which took an hour to arrive. She would go on to spend eight hours waiting to be admitted to hospital in the back of an ambulance before a further 12-hour wait in a corridor.
