OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — Former San Francisco 49ers star Vernon Davis is trading in his cleats for acting. Davis was at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland for the Indie Night Film Festival and the premiere of his short film, “The Masquerade.” It was written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Jocelyne Rose Lions. The film — described as “Drama/Fantasy/Sci-Fi” — has deep Bay Area ties and examines themes of gentrification, art and activism.

(KRON) — Sergeant Joelle Harrell of the San Francisco Police Department is being hailed as a hero after saving the life of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall during a robbery and shooting at Union Square on August 31, 2024. On that Sunday afternoon, Sergeant Harrell was working overtime patrol duties when she heard gunshots in the busy tourist area.

(KRON) — The best and brightest are in Washington D.C. right now to compete in the National STEM Festival. Two science students from the Bay Area made the cut. However, the innovation competition itself was almost cut because of politics. KRON4 learned Wednesday afternoon that a bill to establish National Stem Week is now being introduced in the Senate.
