OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — Former San Francisco 49ers star Vernon Davis is trading in his cleats for acting. Davis was at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland for the Indie Night Film Festival and the premiere of his short film, “The Masquerade.” It was written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Jocelyne Rose Lions. The film — described as “Drama/Fantasy/Sci-Fi” — has deep Bay Area ties and examines themes of gentrification, art and activism.

However, the innovation competition itself was almost cut because of politics. KRON4 learned Wednesday afternoon that a bill to establish National Stem Week is now being introduced in the Senate.
