Davis was at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland for the Indie Night Film Festival and the premiere of his short film, “The Masquerade.” It was written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Jocelyne Rose Lions. The film — described as “Drama/Fantasy/Sci-Fi” — has deep Bay Area ties and examines themes of gentrification, art and activism.

(KRON) — The Mountain View Police Department (MVPD) is investigating an early morning burglary at a decades-old Mexican restaurant that left its front glass door smashed. Police said the incident happened at 2 a.m. Wednesday at Los Portales Restaurant on the 400 block of Moffett Boulevard. Owner Salvador Puga told KRON4 that thieves stole $300 from the cash register and three cases of ‘good tequila.’ Los Portales Restaurant has been in business for 33 years.

Hundreds of people have been rallying outside Telsa’s Walnut Creek-Broadway Plaza location every weekend over CEO Elon Musk’s role within the Trump administration. They’re denouncing Musk for what they call an abuse of power by an unelected official. Organizers are expecting close to 1,000 demonstrators Saturday.

(KRON) — The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) said on Saturday that it has asked California Governor Gavin Newsom for an “intervention and fact-finding investigation” to help end the VTA strike as it hits its sixth day and enters its first weekend. The strike is over wage disputes. The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 265 (ATU) wants employees seeing a 19 percent pay raise over three years while the VTA is offering a 9 percent raise.

(KRON) – Two people are dead after a wrong-way driver crashed into a vehicle near Concord, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP said toxicology results are pending, but it is suspected that driving under the influence played a factor in the collision. The crash occurred around 2:58 a.m. on Saturday, according to CHP. A wrong-way driver in a Honda Civic, traveling northbound in the southbound lanes near Kirker Pass Road and Hess Road, crashed head-on into a Toyota 4Runner.
