The CBS12 News I-team is looking into the Palm Beach County School District and its credibility. In 2022, the district received a stern letter from the Florida Department of Education’s Office of Safe Schools. The letter expressed concerns that the district was underreporting crimes on school campuses. At that time, district officials said they would make some changes to stay in the state’s good graces.

PAHOKEE, Fla. (CBS12) — The city of Pahokee can't account for nearly $2 million in taxpayer money after an audit from the Palm Beach County Inspector General. The report found overpayments to contractors and suggests ‘fraud and abuse’ by a former city manager. In the 87-page audit, the Inspector General’s office said they found ‘widespread, systemic noncompliance’ due to a lack of documentation for city expenses and unveiled a pattern of mismanagement and a lack of accountability.
