Buy Article Permissions and Reprints All articles of this category Herein, we report an efficient method to access difluoromethyl ethers of thiols and phenols using ethyl bromodifluoroacetate and K2CO3. This method demonstrates chemoselective difluoromethylation of thiols and phenols in the presence of amines. The current method also discloses the synthesis of bis(aryloxy)fluoromethane compounds which are least reported in the literature.

The specific roles of these authors are articulated in the ‘author contributions’ section. MSF programmatic funding covered all other costs of the study. The funder was involved in study design, data collection and analysis, decision to publish, and preparation of the manuscript.

The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) scheme offering 40 per cent discount in property tax bills to property owners who declare self-occupancy has failed to attract a significant response from citizens. The PMC had anticipated that around 4.5 lakh residents will respond to the scheme but in the last two months, only 45,000 residents have availed of the scheme. Civic activists say the reason behind the low response is PMC’s compulsion that citizens must pay past outstanding dues at one go.

The state water resources department has issued an order prohibiting holding of events around dams like Panshet, Khadakwasla, Varasgaon, Temghar, Kasarsai, Mulshi, Pavana, etc. in order to avoid any untoward incident.        It is common for farmhouse and camping site owners to arrange campfires, liquor and barbecue parties playing loud music, and swimming and boating in these lakes. These activities, on several occasions in the past, have led to tragic incidents.
