Iowa has a rich railroad history. As the westward movement grew, it became very clear that transporting goods by water would not meet the demand of the American population. The West did not have a large number of navigable rivers. The only practical way was to use land transportation. At the time this meant build railroads. It is interesting to note that these last few years of severe drought and reignited the demand for reliable rail transportation.

A small but dedicated group reported to the concession stand on Saturday, September 7. Our professional helpers from Graber Construction were on site. Their expertise ensures that our work is square, plumb and sound. The hope is that the interior stud walls will be completed and the electrician will be able to come and wire everything. It would really be great to have lights inside to help as work continues. After wiring, insulation can be added and dry wall installed.
