Pleasant Youth Baseball Association celebrated 60 years of serving the young ballplayers of Henry County during the 2025 Opening Day celebrations last Thursday. The Association kicked off the summer by introducing the teams and coaches, and also opening the Kiwanis Playground, which was funded for by the local Kiwanis Club, and sits just outside of the fields.

DANVILLE — A rainy night in Southeast Iowa played host to the first round of the Class 1A substate soccer tournaments, and a couple of matchups featured Union area teams battling against each other. Danville-New London and Hillcrest Academy both enjoyed victories over area foes. The Bears took down WACO 3-1 in Danville, and the Ravens knocked out Mid-Prairie, 5-1, in Kalona.
