DiscussionThe 2018 Ottawa consensus statement on selection stated that selection ‘cannot be isolated from the cultural and social structural context in which it takes place’ and concluded with a plea for selection research from under-represented regions.26 The current study addresses both pleas. To our knowledge, it is the first empirical paper focusing on an (early) outcome of China’s most recent medical education reforms.

AbstractDietary methionine interventions are beneficial to apoptosis-inducing chemotherapy and radiotherapy for cancer, while their effects on ferroptosis-targeting therapy and immunotherapy are unknown. Here we show the length of time methionine deprivation affects tumoral ferroptosis differently. Prolonged methionine deprivation prevents glutathione (GSH) depletion from exceeding the death threshold by blocking cation transport regulator homolog 1 (CHAC1) protein synthesis.
