We used the key markers of kidney function eGFR and ACR to stratify CKD prognosis and assess the risk of kidney disease. Based on the eGFR (< 60 ml/min/1.73 m2) threshold for chronic kidney disease, our findings indicate that 5.7% (95% CI [3.8%, 8.1%], p < 0.001) of the study population exhibited signs of renal disease. In contrast, individuals in the Tiwi cohort with an ACR > 30 mg/mmol account for 20.3% of the population and are at high risk of CKD (Additional file 1: Table S2).
