This Thanksgiving, Lincoln High School students, with the assistance of the Youth Charity League, collected a record-breaking 1,007 pumpkin pies to deliver to 16 nonprofits in Portland. Culinary Arts teacher Melanie Hammericksen has continued a tradition started by her mentor, Chef Dan Brophy, 16 years ago at the Oregon Culinary Institute. After Chef Brophy was killed in 2018, Hammericksen ensured his legacy lived on.

The Sunshine Division, in partnership with the Portland Police Bureau, is known for over 100 years of feeding and clothing Portlanders, but this year they did something new for Thanksgiving. "Today I'm excited to say that we're part of the first-ever Thanksgiving food delivery," said Corlinda Wooden, the Sunshine Division Board Chair and volunteer. More than 300 volunteer drivers showed up to Portland International Raceway on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
