WEST GOSHEN - The West Chester baseball squad split its final doubleheader of the regular season Friday, topping PSAC rival Mansfield 6-3 in the opener before falling 3-1 in the nightcap. Ranked 22nd nationally, the Golden Rams won the four-game series with the Mountaineers and will take a 35-14 overall record into the postseason. It was Senior Day at Serpico Field, but WCU (17-11 in the PSAC) had already locked up third place in the Eastern Division standings.

But after the Whippets carved up the Golden Knights' zone defense, on the way to an impressive 15-9 triumph, West now sits in the Ches-Mont driver's seat as the lone unbeaten squad in league play with four regular season contests to go. DOWNINGTOWN - The cream is rising to the top of the Ches-Mont boys' lacrosse standings, and two of the top four squared off Tuesday. A week after becoming the first league team to knock off Downingtown East since 2021, West Chester Rustin cleared a second consecutive hurdle by finishing strong to better Bishop Shanahan, 8-5, on the road. It moves the Golden Knights to 8-0 in the Ches-Mont and sets up an intriguing first place showdown Thursday as Rustin hosts 7-0 Downingtown West.
