We have gathered a list of Derbyshire food venues which have recently failed their hygiene inspections. Food venues across the country are rated by the Food Standards Agency on the standard of food hygiene on the date of the inspection by the local authority. The venues are given a rating from zero to five with five meaning hygiene standards are ‘very good’ and zero that ‘urgent improvement’ is required. A one-star food hygiene rating means that’ major improvement is necessary’.

The incident took place overnight on Monday, April 14 and saw a bin at The Green, Middleton Drive set on fire. The bin exploded and scattered glass could be found in the area the following day, alongside melted plastic.

Miyo Aoetsu, who runs artisan Kuma-San Bakehouse in Matlock, spent an entire night perfecting her innovative Lemon and Earl Grey Loaf before leaving her Derbyshire house at 6am to attend the finals of Britain's Best Loaf 2025 competition in Birmingham. The hard work paid off and the judges praised Miyo for the ‘sensational’ combination of floral earl grey and refreshing lemon.
