Well after midnight, the Steep Canyon Rangers’ tour bus drops into a lower gear as it climbs west through the Blue Ridge. I’m tucked away in a sleeping bunk, flopping like a fish as we wind through the mountains toward Nashville, where the Rangers are playing the Grand Ole Opry tomorrow night.
