A recent study from Washington State University’s School of Economic Sciences (SES) shows that the “cult wine” subset of the industry may be able to literally weather the storm. A rare and ultra-premium product, cult wines are only available to those who join a winery’s allocation list or purchase the bottles on the secondary market.

WSU astronomer Guy Worthey describes a total lunar eclipse. On the night of March 13, the moon will leisurely slip into the cone-shaped shadow of the Earth, creating the first total lunar eclipse visible anywhere on the planet since November 2022. WSU astronomer Guy Worthey described the upcoming eclipse as a ‘leisurely’ event because it will literally take 6 hours from start to finish with a period of about an hour where the Moon will be completed shaded.

PULLMAN, Wash. – When it comes to getting people to want to go places, the future is ever more lovely than the past, according to a new Washington State University-led . Led by Ruiying Cai, an assistant professor in the Carson College of Business, the study found that forestalgia-focused destination ads—those that emphasize an idealized future—are more effective at enticing travelers to click the purchase button for a vacation than ads based on fond recollections.

Howard Wright, a Seattle-based entrepreneur and hospitality executive, is joining the Washington State University Board of Regents. Wright, a member of the WSU Class of 1976, was appointed to the governing body of his alma mater by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee earlier this month. His term is slated to conclude Sept. 30, 2027. “I’m truly honored to be able to give back to Washington State University as a member of the Board of Regents,” Wright said.

The bird flu is not just in birds anymore. The virus H5N1 is spreading rapidly in dairy cows—and sometimes jumping to the people who work with them. Washington State University’s Murrow College of Communication researchers are helping tailor messages to reach dairy workers to help keep them and their herds safe. The team was tapped by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to create these messages and help the nation’s Extension agents deliver them.
