The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority will soon launch an extensive rail replacement project covering 30 miles of tracks in Boston, forcing schedule changes for one commuter rail line. The $12 million project will replace all rail on the Fairmount Line of the commuter rail, going “well beyond the amount of rail replacement work typically done in a year,” the MBTA said.

The Trump administration directed federal agencies on Tuesday to stop doing business with Harvard University, part of an ongoing pressure campaign by the government to enact change at the school through threatened funding cuts and other strong-arm tactics. An official with the U.S. General Services Administration ordered federal agencies to cut off existing contracts with Harvard or transfer them to other vendors by June 6, according to a letter sent to the agencies.
