AS a delusional youngster, I often dreamed I’d run with royalty one day. Well Prince William remained aloof but I did fulfil that ambition recently when I laced up my trainers to take part in the world’s biggest fun run — the Dubai Run. It’s backed by, and run by, the Crown Prince of this gulf state, so technically, I did run with royalty!I’d been after some winter sun, so headed to the UAE in November, just in time for what I later discovered is the Dubai Fitness Challenge.

Towering over crystal clear lakes and the surrounding prairie lands they give their name to Grand Teton National Park - a gem in US nature. Lesser known, and smaller, than the sprawling Yellowstone, it is a land of rugged beauty.

BELIEVE it or not, it’s not always cold in the Arctic Circle. The week I visited northern Lapland, we were treated to temperatures in their mid 20s and glorious sunshine - and that’s what they call off season in the Nordics. You see, Lapland tends to be incredibly busy in the winter, mostly due to its most famous resident. But as one of my travel companions noted, Lapland isn’t just for Christmas…Throughout the year the Nordics is something special.
