Sky Sports is a collection of sports television channels run by the satellite pay-TV company Sky plc. It is the leading subscription sports brand in the UK and Ireland. Since its launch in 1991, Sky Sports has significantly contributed to the commercial growth of British sports, influencing major changes such as the Premier League's split from The Football League in 1992. The channels Sky Sports 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 can be accessed through a premium package that complements the basic Sky subscription. Additionally, these channels are offered as premium options on almost all satellite, cable, and IPTV services throughout the UK and Ireland. Sky Sports News HQ and Sky Sports Mix are included in the basic packages. The Sky Sports network is overseen by Barney Francis.
