INDIANAPOLIS — Finally, we’re here. The Indiana Pacers avoided a trip back to New York on Saturday by comfortably eliminating the New York Knicks in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals. Now the Pacers will face a dominant Oklahoma Thunder team for the title beginning Thursday in Oklahoma City. Critics invariably will frame the Pacers-Thunder NBA Finals as a matchup between two so-called small market teams.

INDIANAPOLIS — Sometimes you just have to get away, especially when you’re the New York Knicks. As much as I love New York, the hustle, the bustle, the ever-present hype often contributes to outsized expectations and added pressure. This is especially true for the Knicks, whose fans are so desperate and hungry for a championship that they treat the smallest victory like a won title. No surprise then that, during these playoffs, the Knicks are 6-1 on the road and a mere 5-4 at Madison Square Garden.

At 35, she is a rising star and a refreshing voice in the highly competitive sports broadcast industry.

At the time, Williams seemed to be the classic prisoner of the moment. Brunson had been spectacular in a first-round closeout game against the Detroit Pistons. He scored 40 points and handed out seven assists as the Knicks eliminated Detroit on the road.

From the very beginning and before any selections were made, I filtered this week’s NFL draft through the prism of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his famous father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. Draft day would be the final chapter of a dramatic story and journey that began at Jackson State University and continued at Colorado, where they rebuilt a major college program.
