INDIANAPOLIS — A few hours before the Indiana Pacers faced the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, I had the opportunity to speak with the great Oscar Robertson and his daughter, Mari, in their downtown hotel suite. Robertson, one of the most significant players in Indiana’s rich basketball history, was invited by the NBA and the Pacers to help celebrate the team’s first Finals appearance in 25 years.

“The young and foolish laugh at love, so they run away; confident and sure that fate will bring another love their way.” — Four Tops, Just Ask the LonelyOKLAHOMA CITY — One of the lessons Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner has learned is that nothing is guaranteed. INDIANAPOLIS — Finally, we’re here. The Indiana Pacers avoided a trip back to New York on Saturday by comfortably eliminating the New York Knicks in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals. INDIANAPOLIS — Sometimes you just have to get away, especially when you’re the New York Knicks. As much as I love New York, the hustle, the bustle, the ever-present hype often contributes to outsized expectations and added pressure. This is especially true for the Knicks, whose fans are so desperate and hungry for a championship that they treat the smallest victory like a won title. No surprise then that, during these playoffs, the Knicks are 6-1 on the road and a mere 5-4 at Madison Square Garden.
